Street Drinkers - Evington Road

Alert message sent 17/09/2021 18:33:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good evening,

Having recently arrived on the Stoneygate beat following 17 years of response policing, I have become aware of an ongoing problem with street drinkers in and around the area of Evington Road, specifically near to the junctions of St James Road and Abingdon Street. In order to tackle the issues caused by this behaviour, which include general anti-social behaviour and littering, we as a team have taken steps to address the problem.
We have done this by conducting patrols in the area, along with licensing visits to local premises who sell alcohol in the immediate area and advising all licensed premises in the Stoneygate area of their responsibilities by way of a hand delivered letter.
We would urge the community to not engage directly with those involved, as their behaviour can sometime be unpredictable but instead to report any anti-social behaviour that is believed to be related to alcohol so that relevant action can be taken.
Updates on our progress with this issue will be published in due course.

Many thanks

PC 2003 Ian Woolley
