Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good morning all,

Over the last few months one of our priorities has been to clamp down on the use of “Off-Road” bikes. We have received many reports of these bikes being driven around the Welby Lane, Doctors Lane and Thorpe Road area on our beat, not only are these bikes dangerous to all including the riders, they cause Anti-social behaviour to many residents. We received 6 reports in July and a further 4 this month. From these reports the beat team have been able to increase patrols in these areas during the times specified and from here we have been able to STOP bikes that have been driven dangerously.

Stopped riders and given verbal advice

Issued THREE Section 59 warnings, these allow the Police to give riders a warning and if their bikes are driven in the next 12 months in the same manner we can CONFISCATE the bike. (So we did)

THREE bikes were seized.

Thanks you to all the local residents for calling 101 and reporting these details this has supported us and helped us get the above results.

Thank You.

Please, continue to report these incidents on 101.
