Hello, Citizen

Please find the newsletter for the whole of the Melton Borough at the bottom of this email by clicking on the blue link to the Leicestershire Police website. However, as usual we like to give the residents on the Melton Town North Beat a bit more of a personalised insight into your area.

Priorities Update:

Anti-Social Behaviour is one of our many concerns when it comes to preventing crime therefore it remains to be one of our local priorities over on the Melton Town North Beat.
We have had a slight increase in Anti-Social Behaviour compared to last month’s statistics, with the hotter weather attracting more issues, the Beat Team are showing a presence around the general hotspots and challenging issues when seen.
More noticeably a scrambler bike has been seized just off from Rockingham Drive. The bike was seen by an officer driving on a public highway with no insurance, no driving license and a host of other offences. The bike was seized off the individual and was given a time period to make the bike road worthy or it would have been crushed. This was a huge result as bikes such as these have been causing numerous issues and are one of the main causes of ASB in the town. This bike was in line with two of our local priorities being Anti-Social Behaviour and Road Safety.
We fully appreciate the negative impact that ASB happens and how it can affect people mentally and physically, so please do not hesitate to report ASB to Police online via https://www.leics.police.uk/ , or by calling the Police on 101, (always 999 in an emergency).

Drug dealing and Drug taking is a continuous issue and also remains to be one of our local priorities.
Foot and vehicle patrols around our prioritised hotspots are continued to be conducted in an effort to crack down on these issues.
We are still continuing to speak to local residents and gather local intelligence regarding these issues.
Officers are working with Melton Borough Council in order to find solutions in these hotspots with the view of more CCTV being erected.
We are always grateful for your help and involvement on bringing offenders to justice, therefore we are urging anyone to report any information known about the supply of drugs to us by calling 101, or via our Facebook or Twitter accounts. You can also report information to us completely anonymously via Crime Stoppers online, or over the phone, their website is www.crimestoppers-uk.org/ and their phone number is 0800 555 111.

Our last local priority continues to be Road Safety.
Officers have been out with the SL700 speed monitoring device along the roads identified by Neighbourhood Link surveys, social media comments and face to face interactions. Officers completed this speed monitoring on Thorpe Road. 4 drivers were found to be in excess of the speed limit and were dealt with accordingly.
Speed calming measures in the form of parking up in a Police car have also been conducted along Nottingham Road coming into Melton. Officers found this a very effective way in managing the speed of vehicles coming into the town and also act as a deterrent for further speeding into and out of Melton.
If you have any other suggestions or concerns regarding any of our local priorities feel free to get in touch with us by reporting your issue on 101 or online, speaking to officers whilst walking around the beat or through our direct messages on our Facebook page.
