Alert message sent 12/06/2021 17:04:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Hello.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunny weather.
No reports of vehicle theft or from vehicle. No reports of residential/shed break in this week.

Seized vehicle from Lutterworth Road SPAR area following patrols. The vehicle was seized due to the driver being disqualified and no insurance. Whilst at the location, another driver in the area was searched and a small amount of drugs were found. The person was dealt with at the location.

Patrols include Sketchley Brook, Greenmoor Road, Farm Road, Brookside, Three Pots area and Sapcote Road/Banky Meadow. We are also continuing to monitor local parks and are currently investigating some recent incidents.

We also have had a purse handed in. It was found on Cotes Road but looks as though it may have been out for a while so please get in touch if you have lost yours.

Report of Rogue Traders in the area. Door to door sales offering cleaning service for driveways. Please always be wary of any door to door sales especially as we get the nicer weather. Also consider things like distraction burglary when they are keeping you busy at the door https://www.leics.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/protect-home-crime/keep-burglars-out-property/

If you feel someone is fraudulent, aggressive or is involved in criminal activity please call the Police immediately via (101 non-emergency or 999 emergency)

You can also visit https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/a-z-of-fraud/door-to-door-sales-fraud for some good advice around protecting yourself from scammers.

As a result of Burbage resident feedback, your beat team completed a speed event recently at locations raised as concerns. Please see the "Know your speed poster" to keep informed as to why the speeds we challenged are potentially dangerous. We will also be planning in other locations for our next event. If you do raise any concerns to us around speeding, please give us key times, days, direction of travel and locations. Most of the locations we attended are also used by School children leaving School.

We visited Sketchley Primary School area to challenge parking and check speeds. No speeding offences from 77 vehicles. Letters have been sent to several vehicle keepers following dangerous/inconsiderate parking complaints from residents.

We also visited Brookside. 6 speeding vehicles from 144 monitored. Speeding vehicles ranged from 36Mph to 43Mph.

Forresters Road. 1 Speeding (37Mph) vehicle from 53 monitored.

Lutterworth Road. 11 speeding vehicles from 151. Speeds monitored between 36Mph and 48Mph.

We issued several tickets, sent out letters and hopefully advised/educated to support in making our roads safer.

Scam alert from resident

“Just thought that I would share this with you, at 4:30am I received a text to say a parcel was being held at the Post office and it would not be delivered unless I paid £3.99 to the attached text! I had not ordered anything and I did not reply as I realised that it was a scam. So be aware.”

There are lots of scams at the moment around parcel deliveries including phone calls, Emails and TXT. Scammers are presenting themselves as companies such as  Amazon, Post Office and Ebay. Always be aware, never click on links and always contact the company directly if you have any concerns.

Thank you and take care.
